Android Game Review: Draggo Fury II

Holy Mother of dragons! With “Draggo Fury II” by “Koto Games” we finally get a game that combines two things everybody loves: Jump’n’Run games – and dragons! Since “The Hobbit” and “Game of Thrones”, the whole world suffers from dragon fever and is fascinated by these flying flame throwers. But don’t worry – you don’t have to keep away your kids from this one, because I’m reviewing a 100% family friendly app today.

Draggo Fury II

At first glance, you’ll see that this game is suitable for children. The whole screen is packed with colorful, bright graphics and even your little dragon doesn’t look dangerous at all. On top of that, the enemies look rather cute than threatening. My favorite enemy is the marching stickman that looks like a German incense smoker (google that!) or the wading bird with that hilarious long legs. The whole playground is stuffed with so many details and funny, cute, little things, that it’s on the edge of being too much. At the latest when you try to evade or fight some of the background graphics, you know what I am talking about.

The app get accompanied by music from Kevin MacLeod and many sound effects that gives you an acoustic feedback. My favorite sound effect is the evil witch laughing like she’s supposed to be: Evil! Anyway, I have to say that the sound quality could be improved a bit, but I guess that’s the underside of an app that saved so many MB, that you can easily download it without your WiFi connection.

Look at my fingers! The left thumb is spitting fire, the right thumb is using the three move buttons (left, up, right). I’m generally not a big fan of having the jump and move button on one side, preventing you to jump and move forward at the same time. On the other side, this game isn’t made for speedruns anyway, so decelerate your gameplay and slow it down!

It’s an old and traditional genre game studded with many cute and funny ideas. The innovative energy flows through the many details, the main character and the family-friendly look and feel of “Draggo Fury II”. It’s kind of slow, somehow fairy-tale-themed, original, sweet like sugar and therefore different from all other jump and run games, that I’ve ever played. Big plus!

There are just a bunch of levels and you neither can seek any achievements nor crack a highscore. But this game has charm and the chance to be loved. That’s why I’m pretty sure, that there will be people (mainly kids), who will play it again and again and again.

All in all, there are many reasons to give it a try and no reason not to test it. The game is suitable both for big and small kids, the app comes along with no extra permissions and it’s available for free! So try it out!
