Android Game Review: Tiny Bee
Imagine a hot summers day. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and a slight wind is blowing, cooling your skin. Imagine, you spread you wings and fly, fly through the air that feels so warm and soft. And now, imagine that you are a tiny bee, flying through this summer air, escaping from a severe thunderstorm approaching while you try to collect as much honey as possible. Welcome to Tiny Bee, the newest Android game developed by Nurogames. Your Version of Tiny Wings for a summers day.
Graphics: Cute, really cute
The graphics of Tiny Bees are really cute. Really, really cute. The comic backgrounds are nicely drawn, the animations of your bee are really nice, the style is coherent throughout the game and all the levels have a different graphic style. Seeing the graphics reminded us of the good old Monkey Island 4, which had the same draw stile (look at the clouds for example). There is not that much to criticize except of a few more details here and there, because some world designs look rather simple.
Overall the graphics of Tiny Bee are very nice. Good job, Nurogames!

Sounds: Sunny music but clouds approach
Tiny Bee has a very nice musical score. It creates a sunny mood and fits perfectly into the gameplay of Tiny Bees. The sound effects have a nice, sunny touch as well. Sadly, the soundscape of Tiny Bees borrows to much from its gameplay because dark clouds are approaching, setting themselves before the sun. Tiny Bees suffers the same problem many games have suffered before. Its sounds and music are highly repetitive. No matter how nice a sound is, if you hear it for the 50th time, it is not that sunny anymore. A bit more variety would help Tiny Bees to shoo away the clouds from their sunny soundtrack.

Controls: Press the screen. Really, press it
The controls of Tiny Bees are really simple. All you have to do is press the screen. If you press it, your bee will begin to fall to the ground, gain speed or loose it, depending on where your Bee is falling. It is really simple to control your bee. The screen is reacting very fast and after a few seconds you can control you flight as if you had never done something else.

Scope: Hope you like Highscores
Tiny Bee is a classical highscore raider. There are 2 game modes, Unlimited and classic. Each of them has its own highscore list on Openfeint. If you are a competetive pal, you will love the scope of the game. After some playtime, the levels are changing their colors and create some gameplay variety. Still, we would have wished for some more game modes or varieties.
Scope: 3/5
Atmosphere: Summer smash hit
Tiny Bees has a great summer atmosphere. The music brightens your mood (the first few minutes), the graphical style is really nice and the fine humor of the game creates a summer atmosphere you will definitly enjoy. This game is best played on a nice summers day, while waiting for your barbecue getting ready, or as a nice reminder of better days while it is raining outside.
The only thing disturbing this nice summer atmosphere is the monotony of the soundtrack. That is the reason why Tiny Bees is scoring 4/5 in this category.
Atmosphere: 4/5
Fun Factor: A lot of fun, but not for long
Tiny Bees, like Tiny Wings, is one of those games, best suited for a short 5 or 10 minute break of life. It tries to create long term motivation with its open feint integration, but it doesn’t succeed. Tiny Bees is the perfect game if you want to play for a few minutes. With its summer atmosphere this game is best suited for those few boring minutes appearing while lying on the beach, barbecuing or between two games of beach volleyball.
Fun Factor: 3/5
Resume:
Tiny Bee is a game that perfectly fits into this season. It is warm, funny and brightens your mood. Girls will love the game for its cute graphics, while boys will have fun competing for the highest score via open feint. If you are looking for a casual game that you can play for 4 or 5 minutes without spending too much time on loading screens or other obstacles, Tiny Bees is just what you have been searching for. Oh and by the way, if you are a fan of Tiny Wings and you are eagerly waiting for Tiny Wings on Android, Tiny Bee is the game you have been waiting for.
